# Push one journal to a ledger connection

> Files one balanced journal on the linked bookkeeping company. account_external_id is the provider account id (Xero AccountID, QuickBooks Account Id). Xero saves a draft manual journal and does not move balances until someone posts that draft in Xero. QuickBooks has no draft: the entry posts immediately. Pass external_id from a previous response to update that journal instead of creating another. A Xero connection authorised before journal write was added must be reconnected so the token includes the write scope.
